Hair Day/ Lengthy Actions
A part of the Locks of Love Series, Hair Day/ Lengthy Actions is an installation, performance and film surrounding Black experiences, community and politics featured in a group show held at the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Blurring the line between artwork and observer, this work involved a film exploring the process of styling Black hair and Black male performers, connected to the wider dreadlock installation, who engaged with viewers. This project includes community engagement, a commentary on the socio-political position of Black males in the UK, as well as an exploration into the relationship Black-British males have with their hair.
