It's All About Discourse
‘it’s all about dis·course’ is a sold out publication I designed and co-edited published in 2020 by Foundation Press. It provides insight into the experiences of 11 BAME (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic) artists from Newcastle University, discussing themes surrounding identity, displacement and navigating predominantly white spaces, amongst other topics. The contributors for this publication range from second year BA to MFA and their contributions included essays, prose, poetry and artwork. The main idea, when proposing the publication, was to create a book reflective of the artists involved, not only in terms of its content, but through the way it is written, read and organised. ‘it’s all about dis·course’ acts as a literary collage of the experiences, identity, and artistic practices of the artists involved. This publication had a digital live launch during the pandemic and sparked the formation of the Anti-Racism Forum made up of lecturers and students at Newcastle University initiated after I graduated.
